Tattoo removal becomes necessary when you good old adornment starts to become a nuisance. It may have been great at first, but like with so many other people, you may still end up regretting that tattoo and looking for ways to get rid of it. But with today’s technology, this no longer need be a permanent burden.

There are different methods of tattoo removal; some painful, others painless. The method you choose is mostly dependant on the type of tattoo you have, and the complexity of its design. Here at Tattoo 3D, we explore some of the most common tattoo removal procedures and fill you in.

Laser Therapy

This technique is the most common tattoo removal method, involving the focusing of laser beams that target ink pigment embedded in the skin. The ink pigment colors are separated from the skin then eventually removed from the body. This procedure could be a little painful and requires several sessions for effective removal.

Home Cream Removal

It may take you several months to achieve the results you’re after with at-home creams as the manufacturers themselves say. Still, the effectiveness of tattoo removal using creams is yet to be proven as effective as laser therapy.

Dermabrasion

Layers of your skin along with the tattoo are removed – think sandpaper, only this time on your skin. This surgical method could cause scarring and is not safe to practice at home.

Pulsed Light Therapy

This technique works in the same way as laser therapy, the difference being that high-intensity light is used rather than laser beams. This makes the method more effective and less painful than laser therapy but will cost you a lot more.

Excision

This involves surgical removal of the tattoo followed by stitching of the wound and healing. You’ll find this a highly effective option though it could leave a scar.

Tattoo Cover-up

One effective tattoo removal trick is the use a new tattoo to cover up the existing one. With a skilled tattooist, it is not hard to have this done. First, Tattoo fading of the unwanted piece may be done before the new version is imprinted.
